Director General, Department of Fisheries

Syed Mohammad Alamgir assumed the responsibility of the 20th Director General of the Department of Fisheries in 2023. Prior to joining as Director General, he served as the Chief Scientific Officer (Planning and Evaluation) of the Department of Fisheries. He has held various positions in the Department of Fisheries, including Upazila Fisheries Officer, Deputy Project Director, District Fisheries Officer, Divisional Deputy Director (Dhaka Division), Deputy Director (Administration), Chief Scientific Officer (Planning and Evaluation), and Director (Internal). Syed Mohammad Alamgir has played a notable role as a departmental trainer and module developer. In 2019, he was awarded the National Fisheries Award by the Honorable Prime Minister as a recognition of his contribution to fisheries development, and in the fiscal year 2022-2023, he received the National Integrity Award.
